This is a drill that gives good practical application to footwork and takes the player into an effective shot.
Set 3 chairs in the lane with the 2 outside chairs in advance of the middle chair, such that you have created a “shooting pocket.”
Set another chair, with a ball on it, outside the lane, facing the basket.
Player starts posted at the chair outside the lane. He is simulating posting on the lane and receiving a pass from the perimeter.
Player grabs the ball (as if he were receiving a pass). He make a baseline foot drop step, using a power dribble and extends into the shooting pocket.
Once in the pocket, he makes a jump stop, raises and takes a jump hook.
