This is an excellent drill for shooting repetitions and for conditioning. It requires changes of direction, for game type movement, excellent footwork, for balance and speed and good conditioning. It also serves as a basis for many more drills that will allow you to work on a variety of skills.
The court is set with a chair on each elbow, seat facing mid-court, with a ball on each chair.
We need a shooter, a rebounder and a ball placer. If there are only 2 players, the rebounder also serves as the ball placer.
The shooter starts under the basket. He cuts up the lanes, inside the chairs, turns to the outside, and in one motion, scoops the ball off the chair, steps with his inside foot, toward the basket and takes a jumpshot.
He then cuts back down to the basket and repeats the same action on the other chair.
The rebounder grabs the rebound and passes it to the ball placer who replaces the ball back on the chair.
A variation of this drill would be have the shooter cut up and outside the chair and turn to the inside for his shot.
